Kansas City Business Journal | No. 2 KC residential real estate firm merges with Texas agency

April 27, 2022

The Kansas City area’s second-biggest residential real estate firm will merge with Dallas agency United Real Estate Group.

With the merger, Overland Park-based Platinum Realty becomes part of a company that now has almost 20,000 real estate agents, according to a release. This marks the first area outside the Midwest that Platinum will serve. The firm was operating in Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska and Oklahoma.

Platinum CEO Scott DeNeve said his firm would retain its brand and agent compensation plan. Rather than charge agents a split or percentage commission, which is standard at many real estate companies, agents pay Platinum a flat fee per transaction.

The merger will help Platinum “gain more leverage with United’s strong national network and industry-leading technology, agent tools and services,” DeNeve said in the release.
