It’s Okay to be a Quitter to be a Winner

I started my real estate career with one of the largest real estate companies in the city, only to quit to start the smallest company in the city. This company, Platinum Realty, would grow to become one of the largest real estate companies in the Midwest.
Change is challenging and can be scary – especially if you have been at the same company for a long time. It may have been years since you were out looking at your options. Again and again, I hear stories from agents that are afraid to leave their company. I can relate to their apprehensiveness because I was one of those agents who left perceived safety to try something new. Maybe now is YOUR time to quit where you are to get more somewhere else?
Back in 2005, there were no progressive companies like Platinum Realty to move my license to. I looked everywhere for the opportunity to be treated like a customer, not a contractor. I wanted the freedom to run my business and to make decisions that would help me grow my business to the next level, as well as keep more of my commissions. Looking back, it’s hard to believe that I was giving up 50% of my commission! Technology was changing rapidly and I felt that traditional real estate companies weren’t seeing the future – and definitely weren’t investing in it!
Knowing there had to be a better way, I took a chance to start something new. A company that could not only help agents succeed but possibly change the way real estate was being done. I’m proud of what we have built and what we have become over the past 10 years. Platinum Realty is a company designed with the agent in mind. We didn’t buy a franchise and pay for someone else’s vision – we came up with our own picture of what the perfect real estate company could look like for agents. A vision of what agents would want and need to be successful in the real estate business. The agent was going to be our customer – simple as that.
Fast forward to today and Platinum Realty has been named one of the fastest growing real estate companies in America by Inc. Magazine for the past five years and we are one of the largest real estate companies in the Midwest now. Are we a franchise? Nope! We’re a company for our agents, designed by an agent. That’s who we are and we’re proud of it. What is Platinum Realty to me? We’re pioneers… trend setters! Just look around and you will see all the companies trying to be just like us – and while we’re flattered, our success – attributed to our vision and perseverance – cannot be imitated.
You can copy an idea, but you can’t copy a vision! We are the real deal and we have the vision for the future. We want you to be part of that vision and take the chance to do something great with your business. It’s ok to be a quitter, to be a winner in business!
